Mweene Cheelo obtained a Master of Science degree in epidemiology from the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Before pursuing his Master’s degree he was a national consultant for the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) project with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). After this he worked as a researcher for the COST-Africa project before stepping into his current role where he leads on the implemetantion of the research activities for SURG-Africa in Zambia.
