Dr Linda Chokotho is the first female Orthopaedic Surgeon in Malawi. She also holds a Master’s in Public Health degree from University of Cape Town and was the recipient of the Rahima Dawood gold medal for being the best student in her final orthopaedic examinations in 2007. Past president of Women in Surgery Association of Malawi (WinSAM), Dr Chokotho is a fellow of the College of Surgeons for East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA). She worked at Beit Cure International Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi, as an orthopaedic hand surgeon and director of research and also volunteered at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, where she established the first Hand Surgery Clinic to improve management of hand conditions. Dr Chokotho supports the research activities of the SURG-Africa project in Malawi.
