Dr Paul Marealle was senior orthopaedic/trauma surgeon at Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) where he was also chairperson of the quality assurance improvement team. He was president of Tanzania Surgical Association (TSA) and had links to the Tanzanian Ministry of Health. Dr Marealle last roles included: council member of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA), council member of Medical Association of Tanzania, member of WHO Global Initiative of Essential and Emergency Surgical Care (GIEESC), director of Head 2 Toe Orthopaedic and Physiotherapy Clinic, and chairperson of Medical Sports Committee - Tanzania Football Federation. Among the training initiatives that he is involved in, Dr Marealle is also a Trainer of Trainees in Emergency and Essential Surgical Skills (EESS-WHO) and a Trainer of Trainees in Essential Surgical skills - Canadian network international surgery (CNIS). Dr Marealle supported the implementation of the SURG-Africa project in Tanzania when he passed last October, 2020.
