We go beyond our natural working borders to talk to the General Surgeon Dr Alliance Niyukuri in Burundi.

Dr Alliance is head of the Department of Surgery at Kibuye Hope Hospital in Gitega, Burundi. He will talk to us about the measures Burundi has taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country and how this pandemic has affected district hospitals.

​Dr Karima Khalid is the treasurer of the Society of Anaesthesiologists in Tanzania. She works as an anaesthesiologist herself at the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute and as a lecturer at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.

We are talking to Judith Munthali to know how Covid-19 has impacted on the work of surgical nurses at the operating theatre in her hospital.

Judith works as chief nursing officer at the University Teaching Specialised Eye Hospital in Lusaka Zambia. She is also president of the Zambian Operating Theatre Nurses Interest Group (ZOTNIG), and one of SURG-Africa supervisors in the country.
